women hiking WITH CORSETS ON!! 😨

May 24

Yesterday I left off with the medical standpoint of corsets. Now, I am going to move on to comfort. Most people belive that corsets are uncomfortable or very tight as well as restricting of movment. I will be honest, this is sort of true in a sense, just not as vaste as they think. When you first wear a cosert, Im talking first time ever, there is a chance that it will feel a bit weird and unusal. Just as wearing a new pair of shoes for the first time. Because, your body isn’t used to it. You need to learn how to breathe, and move, in your new corset just as you learn how to walk and move in your new shoes. Corsets, as I said in my last post, are made for you, the wearer. They took, and take, months of mock ups and trails to get that perfect fit we see. Corsets are a boned structure made to support. They were assentialy the first bra if you please. They aren’t made to be loose on one as much of our clothing today is. Durning the Victorian Era (1900’s-1910’s ish) they made a new kind of corset, the sports corset, that was a bit less structured since women were able to be more active. But, before then women were still able to get around in their normal day to day corset. So, was this really needed, or just a way to make more money? I have seen plenty of people climb trees in a corset. Not only that, in petticoats and everything else that a women woud wear during that time. As you can see from the photo, women went bouldering and hiking in corsets and all of their layers. So, I don’t think comfort was an issue at the time with corsets on. Also, if women weren’t cmfortable, thy didn’t have to wear a corset, they could just stop wearin it. Of course, after they get their body used to not wearin it. But, they were forced to by men, right? No, thats a story for another date.

Thank you for reading, and hopefully you read my next post on cosets! Don’t worry, corsets aren’t going to be the only thing I post by the way. See you then!
